It helps to collect foreseen needed maintenance parts ahead of time, when you can find them reasonably priced. Then you are likely to be ready with parts, and only need to get motivated enough to do it.
IMO, accept no substitute for OEM Genuine Kawasaki parts!!!

I have some shims already. I believe the half moon rubber inserts I have are factory.. At least that was inferred when I bought them.
Those half moon pieces are showing as still available from Kawasaki. Not hard to find, just go to your local dealer or order online. I agree that they are not cheap though... P/N 92066-1552

My new ones probably have less then 300 miles on them and already are very slightly weeping or damp/wet after only 50-75 mile ride.

Did you bond them in place on the curved surface? If not, clean them really well and do so. Permatex Ultra Black or standard ThreeBond type sealer works well. You don't need to bond the flat area that the gasket sits on and it's best to bond them at the same you install the valve cover since the cover will hold them in the proper place while the adhesive drys.

Helicoil, or Time Sert (for 6mm bolt) is better. Don't cobble it, whatever you do!
