Cam sprockets and roller tensioner wear was created by missionkz

I replaced the hard rubber tension roller and flat front slider on my Kz1000a last year.
Around +42,000 miles on the cam chain and sprockets.
The roller looks rather worn again with obvious signs of cam chain roller pins and sideplate wear.
I wonder if it needs renewed again after <4000 miles.
The flat slider in front looks quite good.
As per the FSM, I've released the locking bolt twice on the slack adjuster in that 4000 miles.

The FSM says replace ithe hard rubber roller if there are signs of wear.
I've NEVER seen one out if a running engine that didn't have signs of wear.
Opinions?
Also I am surprised at the amount of side play in the other two idle sprockets.
But at $125 each!!?? Yikes.

If it's simply side to side play on the sprockets, that is normal and nothing to worry about. The roller wears just like yours is doing. I'm not sure it's a huge deal being worn that way. I'm a don't fix it til it's broken type guy and I found chunks of plastic/rubber in my oil changes for many, many years and just kept riding. Eventually the rubber centers of all three idler sprockets were completely gone and that rubber wheel thing was really chewed up, but this was around 150,000 miles. I bought a whole junk KZ650 for $100 and used all the parts out of it to fix mine. The KZ1000 and KZ650 sprokets are exactly the same part despite different part numbers.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
