I've been getting engine cut out at around 6000 rpm. petcock is working, rode with tank cap open, rode on prime, same issue, this is all the sudden. even in 5th gear doing 25 mph I'll open throttle all the way and I get sputtering. wtf? I rigged my bike with a relay so the coils get direct 12v because before they were getting 9. so what do i do?

The relay can be your problem if it is mounted in a way where it can vibrate. Try soft mounting it temporarily.

It can also be your advancer is stuck. That will limit the RPMs.

Or it could be that whatever problem you were having that caused you to install the relay is still a problem... bad coils, bad igniter/points, etc.

so I found out running it without air filter fixed it. it's a cheaper paper filter. I'm going to get k&n now. btw I have an airbox. filter didn't look dirty. i guess the restrict easier.
