From my factory 78 KZ650 B manual.
Oil filter bolt..... 13 to 16 foot lbs.
Drain plug......... 19.5 to 24 foot lbs.
Spark plugs ..... 18.5 to 22 foot lbs......... I till just lately always went by hand and have found out (by double checking with the wrench) that I went a good 15-20% less than the min on all 3 and they seemed plenty tight...... personally I will probably still go a little less on them but am not recommending this to others...... just sayin.

I go by hand. On 30-40 year old bikes, the specs can no longer apply. Just remember, righty-tighty, lefty-loosey. Use a 6 point socket that fits tight and if it won't come off, find out why.

I agree with Steve, just do it by hand. Both the plugs and the drain bolt have sealing washers on them,so as long as you tighten them down, enough to crush the washers a bit, you should be Ok.

Spark plug threads are easy to cross thread. Be careful. If they won't go in easy, back them out and start again until they do.
