Hey guys I have 1983 Kz 750 shaft drive. Recently I'm having issues with second gear it's been popping out into neutral when accelerate hard. Wich sucks because I bought this bike as a little toy to rip around town on lol. I've done a little research and have read about the dogs wearing out. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I've already accepted the fact that I'm probably going to have to crack the case open lol.
Open the shift linkage cover to see if there's something wrong in there. Could also be a bent shifting fork. I'f not you'll have to split the cases. Might as well check everything else while in there.

Thanks for replying! it has done this 3 times in this season. But if I really lift my foot hard on the lever while shifting it seems to be just fine so hopefully it's just a shift fork. If I tear the whole thing apart and it is just a bent shift fork is their a place that still sells new ones? Also and I really hope this is not the case if the dogs are rounded/worn out what would I have to buy to replace it? I've looked on partzilla and they have SOME transmission parts/gears for old kz's I seen a (gear output 2nd gear) for somthing like 80$. Also do I have to crack the case to get to the shift forks? I cant express how greatful I am for you guys responding to my post. I just want to get over this hurdle before I do the 810 kit and Gpz cams because giving this bike more power seems rather pointless if the trans isn't up to the job lol
You can buy used as long as the gears look OK. If you replace 2nd you will have to do both input and output. Shift fork at the same time would be wise. I'd look for gear clusters on eBay and ask for better pics before buying. If they won't don't buy from them.
