Remove the two hoses from the valve cover, then the vacuume valve, then remove the line that runs to the top of the air box.
Take these parts and look them over carefully... then throw them in the garbage where they belong.
Plug the port at the top of the air box, then buy a hose to connect the two ports on the valve covers together thus eliminating the entire system.
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Yup it was simple and cheap, and it just skirted the emissions requirement so long as the carbs were tuned sufficiently lean. But in reality it did very little if anything. Smog systems without EGR and a catalytic converter don't really do anything. Dilution as it seems was a solution to pollution.. yes some CO and HC's can be converted, but the effect was minimal.
As the OP lives in Texas, where vehicles over 24 year old do not require emissions tests anywhere in the sate he can throw that crap away.

The oil is probably normal. The way the kawasaki clean air system & crankcase breather are plumbed into the airbox, some of the oil & crankcase gases from the crankcase breather are sucked into the clean air system.imagesofhis wrote: One side is rather oily at the valve cover? Is the oil a result of a problem I should address or normal?
