I need to change my headgasket on a KZ1000 - 1197cc/76mm

When using a 1.pc copper headgasket do you still use the rubberselling o-ring around the camchain???

Ive been running with a 2.pc GPZ1100UT (machined to 76mm) but thats not an option anymore

Dont use a copper head gasket unless the block has been o-ringed around the sleeves, otherwise it will leak like a sieve. ;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

damn - what do you recommend then for 74mm - heard the fiber from Cometic is crap so thought the copper one would do (without oring the sleves)

I'm using the Cometic one piece. Works great. Just filled the O ring space with silicon and put it together wet. No leaks. Copper gaskets have been used for as long as I can remember without leaks. The fiber gasket was cheaper and it is the second of it's type I've used. The first was a early Z1 that was a little smaller that the bore. (no problems) This one is for a 72mm and is on my 70mm bores. NO LEAKS.

The copper gaskets are soft, theyre made to compress down around the o rings in the cylinders to help them seal.
Their main advantage is they can be anealed and re used over and over, which is a good thing for a drag bike that gets torn down a lot. ;)
