I apologize in advance is the question has been asked before but I'm trying to hurry up and get this thing put back together for riding season. All I have left to do is reassemble the engine and put the body work back on the bike. My issue is my pistons are still on the crank in the case, all on the bike. I am having a hard time getting the rings compressed and the cylinder block to go over them. Obviously I don't have the ring tools nor do I have a clue where to get them (I'm on a pretty tight budget). Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get this job done? And also are there any special tricks to getting the timing chain tensioner set up right?
I have plenty of engine work experience on classic V8s but this is my first Bike engine and first time messing with overhead cams in general.
Thanks

Some people use large hose clamps.

That's a pretty good idea, thanks. I have some laying around. I was considering using zip ties but I didn't know if they would damage anything or not.

Be careful with the hose clamps, make sure you dont nick a ring!

I use a beer can sleeve about 1" wide with the hose clamps.

This was my other idea was to cut an aluminum can into a sleeve for it. Good to know I'm on the right track. Thanks

I don't like using metal on the ring's so I cut strip's from a 2 liter coke bottle
to use with the hose clamp's. I also use genuine Kawasaki hose clamp's
