High I am new to this site but have read posts on here off and on for a few years. I really wanted some advice and no better place then on here. I am looking at a 76 KZ LTD. The guy just had a bunch of work done to it by a local shop that specializes in the older import bikes. The guy had a 1135 big bore kit that was ordered for someone that never picked it up so he made him a supper deal on it. The motor was sent to Florida to get bored and sleeves pressed but built here in Indiana. All parts that needed replaced were. Other than that the motor is stock. The carbs have been gone through and jetted but are still the original 26mm. All the ignition was updated. The electronics were updated to run all LED tail and turn signals. Rear fender eleminater kit. Tank switched from LTD to KZ style. New seat. Other than that all else is stock. It was a garage kept bike but is still 40 yrs. old so it is in nice shape but still needs stripped, cleaned, painted etc. Oh all the body panels were painted also but not original color. All the parts that were removed, changed all come with the bike also so it could be put back stock if desired. So after all that I have no idea what this bike is worth. I know there were only 5000 76 KZ LTD`s built. ANY info would help.

Nice. Does it have the big bore in it? Was the crank welded? 26's might be too small for it. The price is what you think it's worth to you.

The question starts with what is he asking for it?
Out here in Denver I think a seller could ask anything from $2700 to $4000 for a decently restored and 100% rideable one.

The crank is not welded. Yes the kit is in it with 500 miles on it and there is NO doubt that those 26mm carbs are to small with 10.5 comp. and 1135cc needs a way better set up.

I'm running 26mm carbs on my 1075cc 10.25:1 KZ.
It only gets 44mpg to 46 mpg and F'n hauls ass!!

Is it cammed? With 26's and stock cams it won't need a welded crank. If you tune it like it should be, you can twist the crank. That being the case, you'll be putting another $1000 in it.

I'd like to see better pics of the engine. If they just bored for larger sleeves and the case, it could run hot. I got a 1015 block for that reason. I can go up to 1135 without overheating issues. That's why they sell big blocks for larger bores.

They had to split the cases and bore the top case for an 1135 kit for the sleeves to fit,I dont know why they wouldnt have welded the crank while it was out.
Are you sure it wasnt a 1045 kit they installed with a kz1000 block and sleeves?

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

That sounds more like it. A KZ 1000 block will barely fit the case. My 903 sleeves bored out to 1015 had only 2mm left.
