They can be tricky. You have to heat the head around them enough so they will almost drop out when you tap on them. Too early, you can take metal with it, then get a oversize one to fit.

make sure to clean all the carbon off the bottom of the guide.

i use an air hammer and always remove them with the head at room temp and install with the head hot(450 degrees for 45 mins)

hopefully you don't need oversize guides.

The oven in the kitchen will work just fine if the wife don't sent her off shoppin or something and do it anyways.

a torch can work but you need some way to check the temp.
otherwise your by guess and by golly.

Since it just one valve I'd bottle torch it. Drive it through, and have the replacement chilled in thefreezer. If you forget this steo use lock tite it'll help glide through. Ream to size. Not sure if the guide has a retainer stop so you get that height before taking out the old one.

Don't forget, if the wife's at home, use the gas grill outside to heat the head up to help ease the guides in and out. B)

If youre going to the trouble of replacing one guide its not a big deal to do them all at the same time, then do a valve job on it and be done. ;)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.
