Gotta do some repairs to the starter clutch - looking for tips/hints for removal of the alternator rotor nut - need a tool to hold the crank while removing/re-torquing it (95ft/lbs). Was thinking of maybe putting the engine in gear and putting a rod through the upper/and lower chain runs to lock it - good idea/bad idea?? Other ideas?

I press on the brake after I put it in gear, then use the torque wrench.

Not sure if it will work for you, but my valve spring compressor (without the keeper basket attached) fit the 550 rotor notches and was perfect for holding it. I had the engine out of the frame so i could not use the brake. R
