The part you are showing is keyed when it goes on the crankshaft - it cannot be 180 degrees out, you should see the T 1-4 mark point to the marker on the timing cover which is screwed to the engine when piston one / four are in the top position.
I suspect you haven't fitted the cover with the timing mark. Let me know if you have a problem understanding this, I can take a photo if required.

There should be a "TEC" and number "1016"mark on it. The cam lob should point that way.

My bad, my suggestion is to find out which pickup is triggered (by the cam on the part in picture) i.e when on F 1-4 the correct pickup for that coil to plugs 1-4 should be triggered (the cam should point to the correct pickup).
Sorry this is hard to describe.

That's correct.
When the pointed end of the rotor passes by the left-hand (9 o'clock) pickup module, a signal is sent to the ignition coil that fires outside cylinders 1 and 4.
When the pointed end of the rotor passes by the right-hand (3 o'clock) pickup module, a signal is sent to the ignition coil that fires inside cylinders 2 and 3.
Good Fortune!

Seeing your working on it, TRY it both ways. process of elimination. And No it won't fire 180 off.
