Well I managed to drill the two that go into the oil pump out. I drilled the heads and a little down the shank until the head broke away, and because they're through holes, happy days!
With both oil pump through bolts out, I could wiggle the retaining plate enough to free it off, and a couple of tentative taps with the impact driver very carefully using a Philips 2 bit and away it came! Result!!
Now I'm having trouble removing the secondary shaft, it says in the Haynes book to tap the shaft from the left hand side, to drift out the bearing on the right, but as I do that the starter gear fouls on the inside of the crankcase before the bearing is drifted all the way out. Should the shaft drift out through the starter clutch and starter gear assy?

Keep tapping and try to hold the starter gear back, once bearing is free the shaft should pull right out.
