Makes some sense to paint the wrap, first the outside surface of the wrap is going to be a lot cooler than the pipes themselves. Second the wrap itself has a very rough texture so the paint should stick a lot better. Meanwhile I took the pipes to a local outfit that is going to powder coat them for $225. The guy there said this particular powder coat is good to 1200F and they regularily use it on car headers with no problems. I'm sceptical but we shall see. The one possible drawback is that it only comes in black, a bit glossier than satin but not real shiny. For me that's fine I wanted black anyway.

Look at qccoatings.com Q C Coatings Powder coating and ceramic coating

Do nice stuff. Ceramic coating is what you want for exhaust . Comes silver, good for 1600 degrees. 2 other types are available.
