Spark plug wire connector?

What should the end of a spark plug wire look like? Shouldn't there be a connector crimped on that plugs into the cap? My bike just has bare wires sticking out. It's running fine so it must be making good contact but looks unfinished. If anybody has a pic of a proper setup that would be appreciated.

From the diagrams the 550 zephyr looks similar to my 81 650 --- stock, there are no connectors attached to the spark plug wires. The coils & spark plug caps have twisted spikes that make contact with the wire conductors.

Yes, the caps screw on. It's good practice to snip off about 3/8" on the end of the wire and screwing the cap on to assure good electrical contact. Check resistance in the cap too and compare to specs in the factory service manual.

If in doubt, use I metre of new 7mm non resistor silicon and non resistor NGK caps -the black ones, not red.

Cleverly, Kawasaki made it easy for us to replace the leads, Suzuki messed up big time here with the moulded in wires on the GSX series.

It should look like the stock one in the image below. The spark plug cap screws into the wire and there should be a rubber sleeve that goes over the wire and cap to seal it. Ed

You can dig out the old wires and epoxy new ones in.
