Complete parts list for kz1000 engine rebuild was created by Yetanotherkzrider
So I'm getting ready to rebuild a spare 1979 KZ1000 engine. It's the standard engine, not a MKII (that's in my good bike). I just wanted someone to give me a hand making a list of parts to buy before I tear into the thing. The engine only has 18k on it, but spent quite a few years in someones barn, literally, so the main reason I'm tearing into it is to blast and paint it. But since I'm doing the work myself I can afford to replace anything that might be questionable after sitting for 20 years. Is there anything I should get aside from gaskets and oil seals? Also, I won't be needing the frame from this bike if anyone wants a stock 79 police frame. Thanks a ton.

Cam chain parts, such as idler dampers guides, rollers and guides. Basically any rubber parts, they get hard over time. Valve guide seals. Link may not be your specific model! Good luck.

From what I saw of the exhaust valves, seems like the motor was healthy. Take it apart and see what you got.

Just kidding. If it only has 18,000 miles and it was sealed up good everything on it. The pistons and cylinders should be good.
Redo the head and all the valve train parts
