PCV Breather? was created by CoreyClough
Just thinking if any of you have thought about running one or 2 Positive Crankcase Breathers on your engine? Air could go in one way, and out the other? Just a thought.

Hi Corey, there was a guy here that did something with some hose and T pieces to vent the crank breather back to the pod filters. Seems a better solution than the usual hose and beer can catch tank set up.

This could spit oil back into the filters, and into the carbs. Only problem would be if there is too much oil spitting.

Kawasaki already installed one.

Could you elaborate on this, unless you are commenting on Brendan's Post above? As far as I know Kawasaki had the breather connect to the bottom of the air box, but I am not aware they used one way check valves. Currently, under the carbs, there is a breather port for venting. I guess just keeping the set up as it is, using that port as a two-way breather instead of trying to control the flow of crankcase pulses is the norm.

Doesn't need a valve. The catch drum recycles oil vapor. Vacuum from the box keeps the crank case vented. On auto's the valves have a habit of getting gummed up.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. What is the goal here?

The standard set up is venting the oil vapours through the separation chamber under the breather cap, then the gases go back into the airbox. Excess oil blowby will be a problem whatever you do. I'm not sure the need for a check valve.

It was just a thought rather than to have the oily air go back into the system. The crankcase pulses these gasses. I was just thinking about controlling the flow, that's all. Changed the PCV Valve in my truck, and started thinking about the bike. I don't think using 1 or 2 PCV Valves would be needed. I'll keep my vent as it is.

On my old V 8 Ford, one bank has a PCV valve after the filter, the other bank has a strained vent drum and goes into the air cleaner before the filter. Always a skid mark on the filter in that area. That's what Bonnie called the marks left on our toilet after a woman used our bathroom. :woohoo: She made her clean it up.
