Cam chain tensioner adjustment KZ1100 was created by 76KZ900
This tensioner is a bit different than the 900/1000 ones I've seen. What is procedure for setting cam chain tension ?

Could you describe how it's different? Pictures?

As I understand it, the KZ1100 should have the same kind of automatic adjuster the KZ1000 does.

Isn't that addressed clearly in your service manual? I think it's pretty clear in the owners manual too.

76kz900 maybe you have an aftermarket manual adjuster fitted ! A photo would help clear things up :)

Completely automatic and worked fine. Of course some owners think the factory is always wrong, so fitting an aftermarket unit is a possibility, then adustment is anyones guess, as the aftermarkets sell things, and then don't care 25 seconds later by supplying any guidance.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I'm including a pic. But really just looking for someone that has done this on a 1100. My previous kz were I believe put timing mark to TDC and loosen lock nut and bolt, then tighten.

That is a fully automatic cross wedge style tensioner, once installed there's no adjustment needed.

Remove the plunger cap (17 mm nut on the side of the tensioner) and pull out the wedge and spring.

With the valve cover on, rotate the engine by the crank to tighten the cam chain at the front and put all chain slack at the rear.

Install the tensioner, then install the wedge and spring and put the cap back on. Note that you must have the valve cover on before installing the wedge, spring and cap.

If it stops adjusting, the guides might be worn out or it is defective. Be careful.
