Take out the spark plugs and start kicking.......Nessism wrote: Getting ready to fire up my 750 after a complete tear down. Used assembly lube (lightly) on things like crank/cams/valve buckets, etc, but wondering what's the best method to prime the oiling system before firing this bad boy up? ]

One of te most persistent myths about syn oil...... which in about 99% of the cases for syn oil sold in USA is just dino oil sent through a refining process called hydrocracking.Nessism wrote:

You think the rings won't seat with synthetic? Sounds like a challenge.
You realize of course that millions and millions of new cars are built each year with synthetic oil in them right?

The bike has a filter. Any contamination left over from the build will get trapped in the filter (to a point). That's why I don't think it's necessary to go hog wild and change the oil multiple times early on.

Then put the plugs in.
It fired right off and I ran the bike/engine for about 75 miles. Then changed the hot oil and filter again with 10-40 .... Ran it for another 450 miles, then changed the oil and filter for the third time and now have about 2600 miles on it. Close to 43,000 miles total....
After the third change or around 2100 miles ago, I have used less then 4-5 ounces of oil. That includes this damn hourly two or three oil drips I have from under my dyno cover grommet
I really am pleased with the break in, high cylinder PSI and very low oil use.
