can't find kz650 airbox hoses anywhere was created by blink543
I was on many sites including eBay and can't find new airbox boots. Z1 enterprises has them but says they're discontinued and can't get them anymore but there's hoses for a kz650h. So what do most people do about this problem? I heard pod filters are a really bad bad idea.

Scroll down toward the bottom of the thread and you will see an article about restoring them with diluted wintergreen.

How did u secure them to the airbox end? Did u just let them sit in there? Do they need to be sealed?

You can also use apropriate sized fernco flexible rubber plumbing connectors, slip the reduced portion where the clamp goes into the airbox and cut to length.

The 1981 KZ650-CSR airbox ducts are unique to the model & NLA. One option is to get the ducts that fit the later 650-CRS & cut donuts from radiator hose or rubber plumbing fittings to make up the difference at the carburetors, then use ss band clamps to secure them for a good fit. Most of the 750-4s use those same ducts. Z1Enterprises.com carries them.

So the 750s will fit the 650?. Will the 650h ones fit my 650b?

The 750-4 ducts will fit into the airbox, but the ID is too big for the carburetors, hence the reason for the donuts around the carb intakes. The earlier 650 airbox is different, having 2 holes sizes --- the 2-3 inner holes are smaller than the 1-4 outer holes. The earlier 650 ducts are still available (I think all of the 77-80 650 models use the same ducts).

FYI: the 650-CSR airbox is basically the same as the 750-4 & in some cases identical. It's embossed with KZ750E/H, so it's probably the same as those models, or at least one or two of the early ones.

If the silicon hose fits the outside of the carb, it will be tight going into the box.

These guys make reproduction rubber parts. You need to send him an original part so he can make a new one.

Even if you find NOS, it's probably not good anymore. I found some NOD side panel bands for a 70's KX and they snapped once I installed them. I contacted CSM to repro them but I sold the bike.

It's probably expensive to make a mold for rubber parts, so there probably would have to be a proven market before anyone would agree to mfg the part. Plastic parts ought to be easier nowadays with 3D printers.
