Performance Rebuild Options? was created by DurbinCR
I'm looking to tear down and rebuild my 83 GPz 750 this winter, it leaks pretty bad and just needs a good overhaul. Since I'm going to have it apart I may as well hop it up a little bit. I've been looking online and they make all kinds of parts for KZ1000's and even the GPz 1100 but not much for the 750. How much of the big stuff will interchange with my bike? Or am I pretty much just stuck with the Weisco 810 overbore kit and whatever custom regrind I can get on my cams?
Thanks for any help and information.

Not a lot of the big four stuff works in the GPz750 motor
carb's, clutch and valve spring' stuff is about it.

Take a look at my sig. for a good place to start I still run stock cams and my bike go's low 11's

There is plenty of scope for tuning the GPZ and performance cams are available of the shelf for the 650 and 750 fours.
Get the 810 kit, gas flow the head, fit some slide carbs, a decent 4-1 pipe and you are good to go.

If you really want some serious power you could add a turbo and some other goodies. GPz 750 Turbos that have been beefed up can turn some pretty impressive speeds. See

For half my life I planned on a 810 or 831 MTC kit and cams..... have dozens of lists of parts mods and costs then I punk out and go with the 700 pistons and stock 750 cam a few years back..........runs good but I wanted more......O well maybe still someday.

Those turbos are crazy aren't they Ed..... I also thought about nitrous too but was thinking it would be too hard on the motor. They are probably a little more than I could handle too and Dave's set up would be more to my liking.

What's wrong with just the 810 kit?
I'm in sort of the same position. My 750 has lost some of it's punch so along with a valve job I was going to go with the wiseco kit and the stock cam. I don't want to give up any drivability/reliability.

Your are not "stuck" with Weisco pistons, I put a 700cc set in my 650 and the quality was very good. They run pretty stout rings and I would bet the life span is as good as OEM or better.

If the 750 to 810 build is anything like taking a 650 to 700cc then you'll be happy with it. Head work will be needed to really get the most out the added displacement, that's going to be the expensive part.

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Thanks for all the input. Really helping me get a general plan formulated. Appreciate all the help since I'm new to the motorcycle world. Anybody have any advice on what exhaust would be a good choice? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of options. Vance&Hines lists one for the 1100 but I assume the port spacing is different. Supertrapp has one but its pretty pricey, I've found a MAC 4-1 on ebay, But I've never heard of that company before.

There are actually quite a few exhaust options.

Delkevic makes full stainless systems and they stuff looks very nice.

www.delkevic.us/

I am almost certain that a zr-7 exhaust will fit. Can be found used pretty cheap. They have a nice stainless header that is equalized and gives you a wide rage of muffler cans you can run.

You can call Z1 Enterprises & see if this Delkevic S.S. pipe will work for your bike, you might just have to fabricate a rear hanger

Enlighten me on off the shelf cams for the small fours as I've not found any for sell anymore.
and I've been looking for about two years
Best I know of is Webcams or Megacycle hardweld regrinds.
