Need help with weird issue on Kz750 transmission.

Allright!.
BIKE :KZ750 E1 (1980) 4cyl
it all started when i noticed that my chain was getting a little bit oily, i doubt the chain would lubricate itself with engine oil, i assumed that the seal behind the front sprocket was bad. (the one that separates the trans from the sprocket) thus leaking into the sprocket and the sproket shooting the oil into the chain via centrifugal force.
(i bought the seal and the gasket for the cover. i assumed there was a chance that i wasnt going to be able to remove the seal without removing the cover so i bought both)
NOW, thats all well and good. i guess my assumption was right but i found out a little something when i removed the actual sprocket.

this is what i found.

it is not part of the seal. i cant think what it is. the only thing i can think of maybe its the seal for the actual bearring. but those usually have a metal ring going around it. this one melted and stuck itself in between the shaft and the seal.

any ideas, anyone had the same issue?? the new seal and gasket fit just fine i bought them at partzilla so they are oem and all.

Does the shaft move up and down? looks good from here. Bearing cage is intact. Maybe the PO just drove in a new seal. There shouldn't be anything else in there.

no play. spins freely.
not sure what PO did. im not very concerned about it damaging anything. plastic against metal usually metal wins.. i thought initially maybe the plastic wore the shaft where the seal sits. but the new seal sits pretty good.
i just found it odd. since i have no clue where it could come from.

I don't think it's part of the bearing - you can have plastic cages, and the can collapse, but they will have gaps where the bearing balls sit. Have a look at the image below - this is a diff out of a mini where the bearing cage started collapsing. You can see the brown plastic just under the bearing, with gaps where the balls go. Unless what you have has been flattened, I don't think that's what this is. It's certainly not part of the output shaft bearing, you can still see the cage is intact.

What type of material is it? Is it rubber, or hard? Could it be a piece of stray gasket?

Sure does look like the PO replaced the sealfrom the outside
We have the same bike
Earlier this year I had that missiion cover off - wanted to check the output shaft bearing which was fine - and for sure there was nothing like that in there .
Heres a photo of what I saw which is same as yours. Ignore the red circle at bottom left
Good luck

Its hard plastic. melted plastic. not part of the original seal. the seal itself was in pretty good shape. i think he installed it from the outside without removing the cover. because when i remove the cover the seal remained on the shaft.

They fit from the inside so they won't come out.
