.50 mm oversize rings for kz1000 J and kz1000 P ??

So my dilemma is that I have what looks to be a .50 Oversize bored situation. Cylinder bores are straight and all measure 2.7515
Can't seem to find the .50mm oversize rings anywhere for the 81-83 Kz1000j motor. Looks like Kawasaki still offers the 2000 Police 1000 oversize rings with a slightly different part #.
My question is "They should be exactly the same dimensions right?" And I could use them right?

Put the pistons in their respective bores and measure with a feeler gauge. max clearance is 0.003. If over that, new bore and pistons are called for.

At .0027 now that's not an issue.
My question is about Kawasaki availability of the year 2000 police 1000 oversize rings and the apparent non availability of the J motor oversize rings

What makes you think you need oversized rings if stock will do?

Steve The motor is at .5mm. over at this point with factory.50 OS Pistons. The previous owner must of had it done. I needed to take it all apart for a base gasket failure and want to replace the rings and a light honing of the bores
So a set of Kawasaki .50mm OS rings are what I'll need since putting old (although good) rings back in won't always seat properly.

I bought a used set of stock barrels and pistons. Low mile so I honed them with a good cross hatch. They seated better than I thought. I'm going to break it back down to put in my 10.25/1 pistons soon. Too bad, it's not smoking and burning oil anymore.

I wonder if a local shop has a set you can measure? It may be nothing more than an updated part number.

I had a similar issue like this happen once upon a time... I couldn't find a .5mm over size set of rings for a 750cc English twin bike... but I could find 1mm overbore everywhere.
So... after a few frustrating days we bought the 1mm overbore rings set from a local dealer, did a light, reseating hone on the cylinders, cleaned them spotless, then fitted the 1mm over bore rings into the .5mm over bore cylinders, gapped them all a little wider gap then the traditional stock +.004"-.006" per inch of bore and installed them on to the pistons.
I put the whole thing back together, had my buddy break in the engine over 500-600 miles using the "accepted method of the day".
It did not burn oil, had great compression and he sold the bike two years later with about +6,500 more miles on it then before the goofy re-ring job.
As far as I know it was never the worse for wear using the +.5mm (.020") over sized rings for the actual pistons.
I wouldn't tell you to do that.... this was just a comment.

Come on you Police bike owners. Any suggestions? Call 911

I think the later part number rings were revised to reduce ring tension - I had just this dimema with Nos zx1100 rings bought in error for an earlier GPz1100 17mm pin motor. In the end I went with an 1170 kit.

I have this problem again on a bored out 550 project, new rings navailable now.

Maybe try these : www.totalseal.com/ (not everything listed in their catalouge is still available - certainly for what I need anyway.

I was advised by their rep that using this 'Quickseat' lube and non synthetic 10/40 oil gives the best chance of sealing used rings.

Finding +1 mm Nos rings and filing the ring gaps might work but seems a bit dodgy to me.

So my problem is gone since I found probably the last set of Kawasaki .5mm. Oversize rings(4) . I got them at a place called Niagara Race Crafters in Canada(Nice guy named Larry). They have a "obsolete parts section"that is awesome but has been picked apart pretty well

The other big issue is to confirm the Police ring with conflicting part# will work on all KZ1000J motors
