Cleaning up the motor was created by Knightmares
I am working outside and the motor is in pieces do to a piece of %^$@# that took my money and did not finish the work he was paid for. Any way I have ordered parts and have to have the jugs honed and I am low on money. I plan on buying a Rubbermaid container to store the motor until I can work on it. The old motor oil has not been properly drained and I want to remove the dirt, and debris. I have read purple power works well, and kerosene. Looking for suggests from the community.

Purple power works great. I use it in my parts washer. I don't know if you have Advanced Auto in your part of the world, but they sell a 5 gallon container of PP that's a real bargain. 1 gallon containers are $12-13.00 most places. Advanced Auto sells the 5 gallon container for about $25.00. They don't normally display the 5 gallon container on the floor. You have to ask at the counter.

I took mine up to the local garage and blasted it with the high pressure power washer. Gets in all the nooks and crannies .Clean as a whistle after that. You will need to block up any holes though and wear your wellies.
For degreasing,I use brake cleaner.
Good luck

Another tip... WD-40 works better than any degreaser at dissolving grease and grime. You can then follow up with simple green/purple power/whatever to get rid of the WD-40. Or just leave it, it'll prevent things from rusting while they sit.

Greetings,
Whenever cleaning aluminum DO NOT EVER use Purple Power. Yes it works wonders, BUT it will remove the surface protection all aluminum has. Any aluminum part exposed thereafter to oxygen will oxidize, thus turning a milky color and then to aluminum oxide. That surfaced will be ruined for most ever. Use diesel, WD40, mineral spirits, gasoline if you really have to, soap and water (be very careful of which soap), or you can use Desolv-it or ZEP. Please do not use Purple Power on Aluminum ever...
