Steve
After an hour ride around town last night, and to work and back today...no leaks.
Installing a new stator didn't change the 13.7-13.9 average voltage readings on my GPS, but the engine does run smoother for some reason.
One thing immediately noticed was the coating had been completely flaked off the magnets since the rotor was an ebay-find a year or so ago. Fortunately the magnets are completely intact. I already know where the stuff goes, after taking the oil pan off the first time in Sept. 2010. See pic:

The coating (in this case red) Kawasaki applied to the edge of the J-motor (generator) rotor magnets, mixed in with fragments from a broken magnet. It flakes off due to age, and brittleness
It collects in the oil pan, after being washed out of the generator housing by engine oil circulation. :pinch:
