GADS, it looks like it has been picked over by vultures.
According to her next door neighbor, the pre-previous renter left it there, and more like 10-12 years ago, not 5.
The woman who owns the house says she doesn't think there is a title anywhere. DOH, you think?
I'm told there is a box in her shed, she claims has some kind of motorcycle parts in it and some shiny tubes. Pipes?
The box description doesn't sound big enough to be anything but bits and pieces... no tank and seat she can remember.
Her son thinks there is some kinda mechanical looking air cleaner thing in the shed... ?? WTF?
There's too much crap in the shed to get in and dig it out right now since they are cleaning the joint out to sell the house.
I'll have to go back and do a better job of checking it out after I calm down...my wife was with me and was having a flippin' cow that I might consider paying $25 for this pile of junk.
Hell I'd buy it for $25.00 if it won't roll.... I just don't know where to put it so she doesn't find it... LOL
The triple tree stem decal said 2-77.... so I think it is a 1977' LTD.

Maybe the carbs are there.... or a mint factory exhaust.... or just the turn signals who knows?
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

So I guess, I paid the admission fee to get inside the shed/garage.
The air cleaner thing turned out to be just that...some old metal, turd GM air cleaner bottom from the early 70's using a two barrel.
However, the box was pretty good size and full of junk parts.
It netted me the four missing 26mm carbs from the bike. No cylinders, head, pistons. No exhaust system as I hoped for... the shiny pipes were a pair of Harley twin pipes...junky after market. And a set of those chrome "two mounting point" case savers from years ago...
There is a bunch of old hardware, a new looking Pingel fuel selector, an OEM new in the Kaw box fuel selector but the screen tube on the long brass tube is fractured, two crappy looking Kaw coils, one yellow Accel coil, the plastic battery tray, battery cables, a front sprocket cover with clutch cable and actuator still stuck on, a "low freq" horn from an early 70 Triumph, the license plate bracket from some old Triumph, a pair of handlebar set backs with proper spacing of the Kaw triple tree top, a pair of chrome dog bones for the Triumph or BSA...probably for the 7/8" flat drag bars I found, a new pair of foam grips in a bag, a speedo and tach cable, an actual speedo and tach from what I think is a smaller KZ something....a pair of CV carbs from I think a KZ750, a new in the bag voltage regulator (potted, non-finned), some kind of cheap looking unused seat cover, a fuse block with the 20a and two 10a fuses, a couple LTD turn signals, a really ratty looking Z1 or KZ1000 cam cover and random nuts and bolts and rubber grommets, etc.
She says she thought there was a black windshield in there (black? smoked?) but I could not find it.
Anyhow... now to sort it out and see if there is anything worth a damn...maybe unload some stuff to feed my KZ1000 restro quest....

Great idea.kaw-a-holic wrote: Well frame looks identical to my 77 kz1000a1. My bike had the single solid undrilled front rotor. MC mounted in the same location, with plastic cap. That front fender looks to be in very good shape also. If you have a FaceBook account post stuff HERE also.
Hey!! I found the oil cooler.... kinda scrappy looking but I can comb it. Might put that on my KZ1000A1.
I'll have to check with authorities on the title thing.... she doesn't have a title and her next door neighbor told me two weeks ago that the "actual" bike owner left that bike there at least one or two renters before this guy moved out a month or so ago....and it's been leaned against her fence like that for many years. YIKES!
I have some old Z1, KZ900 and KZ1000 parts myself but ... I think I might keep the mag wheels.
I'll pull the rest of the engine off the frame and split it to see, after a few years being open like that, ...if anything is salvageable.
I'm really not that hopeful but there but there is enough parts left over and in the box of junk that I might be able swap-trade-sell some stuff and get enough cash to get a new set of $150 riding boots... etc.
Maybe my wife is right... it was a dumb $25 purchase and they should have paid me to haul it off and clean up the shed.
Temporarily, I took it to my 94 year old mother's house and put it in her backyard! Ha ha ha.....
