fouled plugs? was created by oldsguy
#1,3,4 plugs black sooty but dry, and #2 plug clean and tan...what may be causing this? Also bike will not idle..and stumbles at low rpm. Cleaned and sealed tank, replaced inline filters, and fresh gas. On 76 900

Make sure it is a Kaw Factory Manual .
These bikes are easy to work on and can be a enjoyable time bonding with your scooter.
Just remember to triple check everything and NEVER assume a part is good or installed properly without checking it. Age alone , and who else has had their hands in the bike since it was built can explain many issues ..

Check you valve adjustments to rule that out. Often the gasket can be reused. Just bop it with a rubber mallet, slide a blade around it ot the top and reseal with Copper silicon.

Checked compression cyl # 1-95, 2-100, 3-90, 4-85 lbs...bike started and ran with plugs 2,3 out seperately. Bike has 52000 miles not sure if its ever been rebuilt. Im assuming its in need of complete rebuild. Did test just turning bike over, read somewhere its supposed to be done at wot?

Yes... Check valve lash first and correct that if they are too tight.
do it with no plugs. Wide open throttle.
Below 100psi is a sign It is well worn. But do it again with a little shot of oil in each cylinder and hold the throttle wide open

If it's been sitting the compression could come up if running right. People don't want to do the valve adjustments, "too much hassle."
A very common issue.
