I just got this off my monthly Thumper Talk news letter. I've seen it before but I thought I'd share it.

That's a pretty good chart. With gasoline in Chicago, though, we don't always get that tan color anymore. We used to, but now it's more greyish. Maybe it has to do with seasonal blends.

...Seasonal? That's a thing of the past.

...It's 10% ethanol all year 'round now in NJ and pretty much the east coast!

...The mix is even higher in the Mid-West and probably to the west coast at 15%.

Seasonal blended gas is used in California and various other places. The idea is to reduce the VOC's. Not sure there is a direct relationship with alcohol in the fuel. www.popularmechanics.com/cars/a3180/summ...difference-13747431/

It's also a way to jack up the price of gas.

I love the gasoline companies that brag that their fuel is "nitrogen enriched." Considering the fact that normal, dry air is 78% nitrogen all they are doing is reducing the volume of liquid fuel you actually put in your tank by entraining air into the liquid. How great is that? Ed

That's the way it is today. Everywhere a GANK, you can't spit without hitting a scammer. Meanwhile, Congress is giving themselves raises for not doing their jobs.

Around here the gas stations sell premium with a big red label that says

"Non-Oxygenated Gasoline, Contains NO ethanol"

Costs about 50 cents more per gallon but it runs like old fashioned high octane should. If they stop selling it I don't know what I'd do. I even run the stuff in my lawn mower because it doesn't gum up the carburetor over the winter...
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Hmmm, round trip to ND... couple 50 gal drums in the backseat... sounds doable.
