Hi everyone, ive been working on putting a 77 kz 1000b together and i picked up an engine that had good compression so i bought it not knowing the condition of the bottom end. when i got the motor in the frame i took the cover off the shift shaft/sprocket cover i noticed my counter shaft had alot of play... :( my question is how big a job is that? can i pull the cover with the countershaft seal off and pull the bearing out that way or would i have to do a whole engine tear down and split the cases....?

There is a pin holding the bearing in.You have to split the cases. You need a manual or you can break them.

I was wrong about the pin, that's on the other side. The output bearing has a ring to keep it in place. I switched my tranny without taking the head off. You just have to remember the few bolts on the top of the case. The rest are on the bottom. Two day job for one man. Needed help getting it back in.
