The climer is a one size fits all. Better than nothing but a REAL manual will be better. As you start ask questions.

First thing I bought was a Clymer and wore it out reading it....... have one from around 79 so it might be a little more specific to the 77 and 78 model? since it doesn't include the 80-82 models .... but like the guys say get a factory one too...... I always open both up and sometimes like the pics and explanation in the Clymer sometimes the factory....... both show going just past the 2/3 mark on the advancer to a certain point to set the chain adjustment...... maybe wait till you read it before you adjust.
1978 KZ650 b-2
700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.

The whole idea is to get the slack to the back of the engine. In some places the compression can turn the crank backwards causing the slack to be in the front. Turn the crank with a 17mm open end wrench and stop. The spring loaded adjuster will take up the slack if it isn't at the end of it's range. On old motors, the plastic can become brittle and come apart. If that's the case, a tear down is called for.

Check out the amount mine was sticking out 15/16 after the rebuild ...... and one inch before and after break in with right around 1 7/16 or just under for being the limit........ that is on my 1978 anyway.
