Deck and sleeve height, Question

I'm perplexed here. I dug out my overbore KZ1000 1015cc cylinder block today (cold and rainy in Denver for days).
Thinking maybe I'll pull the top off the engine this weekend and fix an oil leak that has been bugging me for a while and maybe even install the "big" bore kit.
It has been bored, honed and fitted to a set of Wiseco 1075cc 72mm pistons.
After reviewing it it noticed that one sleeve flange sits about .0075" to .0085" above the deck!!
It is not loose....

See the picture:

I am greatly concerned about this and am wondering if I should take this somewhere and have it ground, heated reseated, smacked in with a big hammer or what the hell to do if something needs to be done.
I don't want to do this twice after discovering a blown head gasket in the adjacent cylinder in a few weeks... etc.
Comments please?

They are a semi press fit. You could try tapping it down with a block of wood. It might have been bumped around. The 1075 seems like a good idea.

find a way to support the block so the liner are not touching and
bake at 350 degrees about 15 min. and then lightly tap the liner with a brass hammer.
I've done this with the block upside down to remove liner's and have seen them fall out of the block
like Steve said their a light press fit.

I had the same thing happen this winter. Was washing my block in warm water when a sleeve just fell out in the sink. I put it back in, but could not get it to go back in all the way, and had the same problem you show in the image.

I finally put the block in the oven like zukdave says there, pulled out the sleeve, inspected and cleaned the recess area of the block, put it back in hot, and the lip disappeared.

If getting it hot does not let it slide down all the way easily, I suggest you pull it out and ensure nothing is trapped under the sleeve flange. If its hot, it really should slide in flush without having to wail on it too much.

If all that fails, then measure the recess in the block & compare to the flange of the sleeve. If that's mismatched, then your off to a machinist.

Cheers

i've had sleeves fall out while boring them.
now i support each sleeve individually in the boring bar fixture while they are being bored to insure they don't move while machining.
they are a very lite fit,as has been mentioned.
i have a press so the first thing i would do is put a little pressure on it and see if it moved if not i would do like chconger said and pull it and inspect.

prolly just got bumped around and will go right back.

Thank you for the replies... after tapping it a few times with my 2lb, lead BB filled plastic hammer... no luck. :(
I'm afraid to hit it too hard for fear of driving the others up... I just haven't secured a good support system yet,
So, I will try the oven thing a little later today and report back.
