New to forum - GPZ750 Oil flow diagram
23 Apr 2015 02:20
Hi
I'm and older bike rider in my late 50's - starting again. I had many bikes between when I was 15 until around 40. I recently had some health problems so the Dr suggested I should start some sort of project. Initially I thought I would buy a bike but couldn't find anything that I wanted...can't seem to like 'new' looking bikes. I found an old GPZ750 and pulled it to bits. Initially I was going to restore it but ended up building a 'Brat' sort of bike
It took best part of 12 months, but I finished the bike a couple of weeks ago and have travelled about 1,000k so far.
Last Friday the engine seized....when I pulled it down he head and barrels came off pretty easy to discover main bearing on #1 is seized. It must have something to do with blocking off the oil cooler. When I decided to remove the cooler I didn't consider the oil flow may have gone via the oil cooler, I thought the oil would just circulate through the cooler off line ... I need to check that out but can't seem to find any map of where the oil flows. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I hope I can contribute to this forum. Cheers Brian

Best way to remove the oil coller is to install a KZ650 lower sump
that's how I did mine it is a bolt om no mod's needed.

Hi Macco57
Welcome to the forum. Nice bike you have there
You can download a manual here mbsween.bike-night.com/kz750l3/manual.html
May not be your exact model but should be close enough.
Go to page 186 for the section on the lubrication system and page 187 has the diagram you are looking for. I didn't notice mention of the oil cooler in the quick glance I gave that section but you can take a closer look.
The attached pic is of page 187 and will give you an idea of whats in the manual
Very good advice from zukdave. Thats what I would do if I wanted to get rid og the aftermarket Oil cooler I have on my earlier 750/4

Why would you want to remove the cooler?
