Valve shims all out of stock!!

I bought the kawasaki shim tool and was able to make an easy job of swapping shims. Luckily 4 of the shims were able to just be relocated to put a valve in spec. I still need three 2.30 shims and one 250. Z1enterprises is out of stock along with every other place I have looked! I found some online and after placing the order I recieved an email saying they will have them in a month. I need shims as soon as possible. Anybody have a vendor that they have had success getting shims from? Any 29mm o.d. Shim of the correct thickness should work correct? Also if anyone has these shims at home I would love to buy them from you

Chaparral on line has shims and it shows if they are in stock or not.

Thanks Swest! Jetsrus is where I placed the order and was notified that they were out of stock

You can also try your small local shops. The one close to me will do a exchange + $5 to swap them.

There's a yamaha dealer about 30 miles away, I will have to call them in the morning

Perhaps someone can help you out......some yamahas also use 29mm. shims, I have one spare 250 shim I can trade with you (I have no 230's)

You say you need 250. Would a 245 be within range and 225 instead of 230? I don't know if I have a 250 but the smaller ones I need for my machine. I knew I should have "tipped the valves. I have lots of the larger ones. They wouldn't help because I could only get .010 more clearance. I have one 210, 215 two 220's, 230,235 and 240's. Not much room left.

Yes, shims are in very short supply. K&L Supply has been the major supplier for shims for decades. Mid last year they encountered some issues with the manufacturer and decided to find another manufacturer. They (and now everyone else) are still waiting for the first batch to come in. Part of the delay is their first batch is STILL stuck in a ship off the coast of California - a casualty of the dock strike that impacted 29 west coast ports.

Yes, Yamaha has (had) stock of many of the 29mm shim sizes. The XS1100's and other bikes use the very same shim. The Ford Taurus SHO engines (made by Yamaha) also use 29mm shims - although some f these are drilled with an oil hole in them.

K&L is expecting to see them in early April now. That means we should have them by mid-April.

thanks Jeff for the reply, and sorry DFIGPZ I did not see your post until after i sourced some shims. I stopped at the local yami dealer and they had a few in the back collecting dust. Turns out they had exactly 3 of the 230's and just one 250. Exactly what I needed
