TIME TO TRADE IN THE PEDALS FOR SOME POWER
Trouble starting was created by jsnabbs
Hey guys, im back with a new trouble.
well the bike is back together, somehow finished, but not as finished as i thought
Heres a link to the build
www.kzrider.com/forum/11-projects/592417...first-build-finished
So today i thought i would fire it up, first problem, as i put petrol in, it came straight back out of the front of the petcot. So i drained it all out, and as luck had it, i had the new gasket for the petcot in my workshop.
So next try, petrol in again, all good, didnt leak. but somehow she wouldnt fire up. Was a couple of times just about there, it wanted to, but no cigar. i didnt want to try too long as i have a new shorai battery, and you're not ment to run them flat. so i left it at that.
I took a couple of pictures of the tubing from the tank to the carb, can someone confirm i have this right please
It all seems a bit strange as the guy who did the electrics said he got it running after a couple of cycles, he used a secondary tank, so no gas running from my tank to carb. now it seems strange that 1 week later i couldnt get it going.
this is the first start/ or second start up after the complete rebuild, so im all ears for suggestions.
thanks a million in advance

sounds like your carbs are dry, set fuel tap on 'prime' if it has't been run for a while.
From your pics, black tube is fuel tap outlet to fuel rail on the carb bank, green tube is vaccum from one intake rubber for the tap : this shold go to one of the intake manifold take offs. You may have three blanked off and one for the fuel tap.

Open the drain screw. The float may be stuck, the diaphragm in the pet cock may be bad or no vacuum to it.

as it was leaking out the front i canged the cirlce part with the 4 holes, and the o-ring that goeas out outside of tap. there was all so a metal shim that came out from behind the tap, in between cirlce part with 4 holes. im so silly that now im home and i didnt think to check if gas is running from hose when tap is turned on

That's a spring to keep the lever against the rubber gasket. That's why the leak.

Where there are two nipples on a vacuum operated petcock, the smaller nipple is for attaching the vacuum hose from the carb or carb-holder, and the larger nipple is for the fuel line that runs to the carb.
