Any suggestions for a set of performance cams? Something to match the stock head, 903 cc'c, 29mm smoothbores, and a Kerker with the race baffle.

I'd go with either a #118 or #119 Web grind. Not sure about the others. I think anything under .425" lift is safe with SOB.

better off spending money on cylinder head more bang for the buck plus the fact that valve springs are more than likely weak

Andrews doesn't make these cams anymore. I have 1X, the 2X are better. Considered "drop in" cams. I'd go with something like that. New springs are a good investment and new seals are a must. How many mile in the bike?

+1 on Doug and Steve's cam recommendations.

A point of clarification- with shims UNDER bucket, the sky is the limit. With shims ON TOP of the bucket, .410 is probably the limit. Certainly anything above .425 is asking for trouble.

High lift cams are suitable for heavily modified engines. For a "mild" build they offer little to no benefit. The head has to be ground to accept the larger lobes as well as the valve cover. The shim under cam followers are a good start (though harder to adjust) and the springs have to be matched to the size of the cams and bore. A radical overbore will make the engine temperamental and prone to overheating. Not suitable for every day riding. Best to stay close to stock. Not to mention wearing out tires. I've gone through 4 new tires in less than two years.

If you've got the ponies, you might as well ride them. B)

Nearly 50k on the bike. I have either a Yoshimura Series II system or a Kerker with the comp or race baffle to put on, as well as "ported and polished" smoothbores. I've got the Kerker and a street baffle and the stock 26s on there now.

I'm just looking to help it breathe a little better; a mild gain without making any permanent modifications without the need for shim under bucket. I have a gnarly 1105 mill to put in once rebuilt, but that'll be several months, likely a year down the road.
