Oil light coming on and staying on just after star

The steel filter is probably the outside of the filter it's self. The paper is inside. ALWAYS change the filter with the oil.

The KZ1000 models were built from 1977 through 2005; that's 29 years. That means there were a LOT of different flavors, and they really are not all the same. Ed

According to the K&N site the 1988 KZ1000P uses the KN-401 oil filter (see first link). Dennis Kirk has them at a good price (see 2nd link). Ed
