which cam should I go with and head setup was created by 69newportking
I have a kz 900 case and crank bored out to 1135cc ,10:5 compression ,34mm rs carbs. I have a kz 1000 head that is stock but i want to send it in to have it ported . I am looking to make this bike into a street/strip bike . I want it at the edge of being streetable . I will be drag racing it in the 1/4 .and only riding it to car shows around town a few miles away i do not plan on taken it on the highway or anything like that .I have two cams right now one is a .365 lift and the other one is a .410 lift 266 duration: and what will I need for the head ? I was thinking about keep the stock valve sizes for clearance issues .will I need over size buckets for the .410 cam .? Or I was thinking about a .385 lift cam . What do u guys think would best suit my needs I will not be taken the rpms up to 11k or anything either probably around 9500 k . So I don't need a cam that makes power over 10000k

If you go with the .385 cams id suggest having the head clearanced for the .410 cams to save tearing it back apart later if you decide to upgrade later. :)

Isn' t building hot rod motors a case of "BIGGER" equals better?
Seriously, have you ever met a horsepower you didn't like? Especially if the bike won't be used as a daily commuter?

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

I was think about having Cavanaugh doing it . Heard a lot of good things about him . But I don't want a full out race bike more like a pro street . Bar hopper . What cam makes the best power from 4k to about 10 k

If you talk to Larry Cavanaugh he can suggest a cam and port the head to work well with it, your engine size, and your carbs.

If it where me and I had to choose between the 2 cams, I'd go with the .410 cam.

How much time do you really plan on spending at 9500,and how much will be spent between 6000-7500? :)

the 1135 piston kit you have and the .410 lift cams will work  .......410 lift cams are not that radical for street use,,,shim on bottom buckets if you are going to drag race the bike.

:S I would get a j or gpz head, do a conversion for the cam chain and forget the port work....just me though

The .410" cams are the ones you want to use for that setup. You can get by with the stock size valves but for an 1135 motor you'd be better served with 38.6mm J valves turned down to 38's. The 30mm exhaust size will work fine but 31's wold be better.
