I'm surprised that none of the engine gurus in our group haven't lit up at this one already! I'm not an expert on this sort of thing but I'm a bit confused about the white smoke - this is not usually indicative of burning oil - this is usually blue-ish in colour from my experience with engines with worn pistons/rings. White smoke usually indicates a serious problem with cooling system fluid being drawn into the combiustion chamber and burnt as a result of a warped head, cracked head/blown headgasket or combination of all three. Best not to use the bike until you get to the bottom of this!
If it does turn out to be an oil burning problem one thing to consider - during the rebuild were the rings "gapped" before installation? (ie placed in the intended cylinder and the gap measured to check if it is in spec.) Also the rings need to be placed on the piston so that the gaps do not line up vertically. If they do line up then the oil can easily be drawn along the piston through the lined-up gaps and sucked into the combustion chamber and get burnt.
Hope this helps, Biill.

These motorcycles are air cooled - there is no fluid in the cooling system. Ed

Broken ring? That is a ton of oil use.z900750sei wrote: I'm rebuilding Z1000H. I have new piston rings, new gaskets, new valve stem seals. Valve stem, Cylinders and pistons are in tolerances. The biggest bore after honing is 70,07mm. Smallest piston is 69,931mm. Compression is from 12,2-12,9bar. I have a lot of white smoke and I burned 0,5L of oil in 80km. There is oil in pipes.
