Going to pick up a LTD 1000 this week and need some I.D. help. The bike was listed as a 78 LTD, but the numbers come back as being a 79. My problem is the motor numbers are between a 78 and 79 and are not listed?

The frame is a '79, but but the engine looks like a '78.
Not really unusual. The engines on this age of bikes are almost guaranteed to not match. The engine serial numbers are based on the engine series (this is an 'A' series engine) not the bike series. It's also possible that your engine came out of KZ1000 A2 or A3, or a Police bike of the same era.
I wouldn't worry about it.

The motorcycle should be titled as a 1979 year model as most titles are based on the frame VIN.
