this is what i have done to it in order
made airbox out of pvc and 1 pod. no change
added fuel filter due to rusty tank( but have seen worse run fine) no change
new plugs. no change.
cleaned carbs. no change
checked for bad intake boots and resealed to head. no change
changed carbs. no change
re-jetted from 117.5 to 147 no change.
i am now at a loss. any help in diagnosing this problem will be greatly appreciated.
i am under the impression that it has a fixed timing plate with no adjustment at pick up coils. is this true and how do i check timing?

Examine the timing advance weights, and check that they move freely. Be sure to synchronize the carburetors.
Also, having a Kawasaki service manual for the bike would help you immensely.

There's no reason to rev the engine that high. The KZ1100 makes its maximum power at 8,500 rpm. Beyond that, the power drops off rapidly. So at 10,000 rpm its making about the same power that it would at 6 or 7,000 rpm. Not only does it make very little power at that high rpm, revving it that high will shorten the engine's life. Ed
