Kick Start Mech. was created by 4TheKZ1000
Can the kick start shaft and gears be removed though bottom of crank case?

I have oil pan off and wanted to remove it, or do you need to split cases for removal?

Thanks, Spencer

I got it out, was very easy......but for "C" clip holding fixed gear. Took me about 25 mins.

Had to weld up a spreader for that c-clip and call on the wife for 2 mins.

This c-clip was a beoutch.......

Yes, I didn't split the case, and was able to remove the kick start shaft and gears ....

I swear on my Mother's life......no bull.

It can also be put back in with out splitting the case.

There are two retainer clips to remove. #12 and #21. After that, release the tension on the spring, remove spring and plastic bushing and pull out the shaft.

These 8 pieces will slide off the shaft and fall into rear case pocket. # 14 x 2, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21. I used a magnet stick to remove the parts.

No damage to parts.

Part 13.
The bush that the kicker shaft runs in and is located with a dowel stays in the case when removing the kicker mech in this manner.
