APE K410
28 Jan 2014 10:18
Just shipped my head to Joe Hooper at PSP...what an amazing guy when it comes to be customer polite.
Anyway- gonna have a Stage 1 porting and was recommended the APE K410 cams because im running 1197cc Wisco Pistons
Anyone tried the K410 cam- how does it run from idle and up through the RPM's
/Lars

It depends how you set the up.
Read up on lobe center. Most run cams between 108 - 110

Well the 33's will handle that setup.
Just remember, a good Kaw engine should start with a great head.

Those should be good cams. They will like the higher RPMs but should do good riding is traffic and stop and go traffic.

The lower duration of the cam, the more midrange. Low duration cams have a sharp lobe point to them.
The more duration of the cam, the more top end. High duration cams have a rolling or more rounded lobe.
You will find duration of cams from 246 degrees all the way to 280 degrees.
As compression rises, so should the duration.
My personal view, I wouldn't go higher than .387 lift on a 1075 to 1105. Anything after that is a waste in 95% of the engines built.

I have the .410 cams in my bike. As for power, yes, seems like more all around. They pitted a little after 10k miles. I have no idea if that is the norm or if my engine wasn't built right. I ran this with 29 smoothbores and a 1075 kit. Replaced cam that pitted and this time around running liska rollers and a heavy duty chain and solid pieces in the timing chain area. Did more head work and had head ported to fit J boots with 31 keihin cr specials. Sounds like this may be a great ride, just have a few more pieces to put on to finish bike. Be ready for spring. I think those are a nice grind. Didn't notice any loss of power anywhere, all balls all the way to redline. I didn't notice any flat spots at all.
