Cams recognition

Finding it difficult to recognize some of the different cams on e.g Ebay etc due to some models maybe are called something different countrys in between or they overlap in the years
Cams from the z900-z1000a ('73-'79) is with 3 mounting wholes for the sprocket and with the same grind meaning the ones you find with 3 mounting wholes for the sprocket fits the 73-79 models?? and from there they are with 2 mounting wholes meaning you'll need to bye ore modify a sprocket to convert??
-is the sprocket mounting the only difference on all of the kz1000 cams??
And how much lift is the max before you'll need to modify your '73-'79 head for rotation??
Been trying to search the form for answers but nothing specific came up

The later 2 bolt however do vary slightly from model to model.
The GPZ1100 unitrack being the highest lift.
You can get conversion sprockets for any combination.
What are you trying to achieve ?

just found the cams im linking to, but not sure if they fitted my '78 head!!
have 1197cc wiseco kit, 33 wm smoothbore...
And another thing before you send me links to Pit stop performance or Dynomann etc is that to get goodies into Denmark you have to add shipping + 38-40% taxes on everything so thats why it sometimes get more fun/challenge to 'build' with cash/hp ratio..if you get my point

Those in the link are just STD cams.
In my everyday bike (Z1R) I have 1075 wiseco's, 32mm smoothbores ( 1000 katana re-spaced) and STD cams degreed in on a manzano ported head with 1mm o's valves.
It goes VERY well and is smooth from tickover , the ported head and larger valves made the biggest improvement.
I did run some Engle fast road cams for a while but the increase was all top end and a willing to rev to 13000 rpm, the novelty wore off after a short time and I dropped the std ones back in.
It makes for a smooth motor that will still pull 160mph and get 50mpg cruising.
I would use what you have and port the head, degree in your std cams if you have them and see how it goes. You can always find some better cams later if needed.

measure the base circle.
measure the lobe lift.
minus the base circle and you have the lift.
base circle: 1.110
lift: 4.110
cam lift: 3.00 or .300 lift

The head needs to be Ported, bigger valves, quality seals, HD springs and finish with a quality valve job.
You get the head done right and all will follow.
