I would get it right on the crank. With 50K worth of miles, it could be tired.
I would run a welded crank.
I saw a MKII welded crank that accepted index rod on ebay.

A well deserved question....I know this is not the same bike, but I know of a couple of fellows who turbo'ed their ZG 1000's (Concours) and have had no trouble with their drive shafts. I know of 1 guy who turbo'ed his ZG 1400 (Concours) and has had no problem with his drive shaft.
I know of one guy who ported the head on his ZG1000 and had his cams reground for power. I understand his bike will wheel stand on command. ( this guy sells re ground cams for the C10 or ZG1000 is well known and respected in the community. He has had no reported problems with his drive shaft. Plus shafties don't do wheel stands any way right?
I also know one guy in person who put a 1200 cc motor in his ZG1000 frame and was able to use the shaft drive components from his ZG1000 motor. He has had no problems with his drive shaft.
The only drive shaft problems I am aware of in the C10/C14 communities is in 2010, there were some C14's released with out C clips installed on the universals from the factory. That little deal caused some havoc on those bikes.
