Alternator rotor for Z1R
23 Dec 2013 06:01
My alternator rotor that is located on the left hand side of the crankshaft is starting the come loose on the shaft pivot. I believe this a common problem (especially over 206Kkms). Anyway the OEM appears to be obsolete but there is a replacement that looks like a machined housing and is cheaper.
Has anyone used one of these before? if so, what do you think of it?

Re: Alternator rotor for Z1R
26 Dec 2013 16:13is this for 1978 Z1R or 1980 ? I believe 1978 took early small taper version and 1980 took later large taper version I am pretty sure I have a couple of the early version small taper if you are in need.Bozo wrote: My alternator rotor that is located on the left hand side of the crankshaft is starting the come loose on the shaft pivot. DFIGPZ - Sorry, just got back from my holidays, I have the 1978 model. Joe Hooper from Pitstop has someone helping me so with some luck I should be able to find an original replacement. Thankyou for the offer.

I have several good, used ones... You'll need to lap them on the shaft, first for a good fit. I remove the dowel key and spin them with a little valve compound. Once the area is gray, rinse with brake clean and reinstall the rotor and the key. The "73-78 is the same and pretty much are indestructable, unless they get loose.
