In your other posting titled “Hesitation Off Idle” you stated “When I sit at a light, it idles just fine. When I get ready to go from the light, if I just go straight to throttle, it will die. If I tap the throttle first, then takeoff there is no problem. It is apparently a weak point, but I do not know if it is a needle position or a pilot jet problem. Has anyone dealt with this hesitation off idle? How did you fix it?”
In this posting you say “Bike has good power from idle up to around 5k.....”
Folks on this site will try to help you, but that becomes quite difficult if you do not give a complete description of the symptoms of the problem you are experiencing along with the year model of your bike and a list of any modifications (such as pods) that you have made. Ed

It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And may be changed whenever and as often as desired.
If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do. Here's how:

Did this problem just start, or did it happen after some change or event?
Did the bike sit for an extended period of time (more than a couple weeks) prior to the problem starting?
Has the jetting of the carbs been changed from stock?
When was the last time new points & condenser were installed, and was the timing advancer lubed?
Have you checked the ignition timing and operation of the advancer using a timing light and checked the points' condition for pits and the points' gap?

It has been doing it since I bought the bike about 3 months ago.
I don't think it has been sitting since it has been gone through at the dealer.
Haven't checked jetting yet. (what is the standard size for '79 KZ1000ST?)
I haven't done anything with the ignition system, because it was just serviced, and I did not want to get into it if the problem was jetting, or something else. That is why I am asking for advice on where to start.
Has anyone switched out their points for electronic ignition? What did you notice about the change? good? bad?
