Also, when reattaching the tach cable be careful to not tighten it too tight or it will split. I put it on finger tight and then go 1/8th turn with channel locks. I found that if I only left it finger tight it would loosen up on its own. But I would not go more than 1/8th turn past finger tight.

Also for some reason on my bike the tach cable itself never got tight. I can still wiggle it where it comes out of the motor even though the nut is tight. Next time I order from Z1E I am going to order another red fibre washer and stack two of them in there. Tach cable is aftermarket motion pro so maybe thats the difference. BTW...the motion pro cable should come with this fiber washer, IMHO.

What the correct term for the nut on the end of the cable that will split if tightened too much?

Hi Guys, I know this is an old thread but this is the best one I can find using search. I need clarification as to where to put the brown fiber washer.

It goes between the cable fitting and the tach drive.
