You can check and see if the valves are sealing. Set the head upside down and pour some light oil over the valves and watch to see if leaks past the valve seats. If it does, the valves must be lapped or else your compression is going to suck.

Good Idea, If my valves don't leak then my compression loss could be due to my valve clearances from shim to cam correct? or do valve clearances not affect compression?

Yes. Valve clearances certainly can affect compression. Think of it this way - assume there is zero valve clearance between the cam and a valve. Since the cam is always pressing on the valve it will not let the valve close all the way. So that cylinder will never have the compression it should have until the shim has been replaced by one small enough to let the valve close completely. Ed

That would explain a lot. I do have two shims that are too big for the cam. One shim on each side actually. I plan on replacing those too with shims that are up to spec( if I can find some). Also bountyhunter I put my bad sparkplugs into the head and put some oil over it . A lot actually to cover both valves . So far the oil hasn't moved at all. No bubbles, no drop in level. Will check again in the morning to see if it changed. Thanks guys

Okay so checked the head again and no leaks . so my valves are seating correctly i think . Called my shop and they wanted 300 to change out the seals for me . yeaaa i think I will do it myself for $300 . I bought the keeper remover and stem seal pliers for 60 bucks shipped . Better deal I think .
