The general jetting recommendation I've seen on this forum for stock mikuni's with pods is 20 pilot 120 main. I saw this old Hot Bike Engineering jetting guide on the Kawi Triples resource website and it shows 117.5 - 120 mains for KZ900's and 1000's. I think this supports what Dr. Gamma is saying.

Also I am finding that my KZ900 with pipe and stock airbox/K&N filter is running rich with 120's and I think I'll get some 117.5's.

I'll give those a try. Every time I put new plugs in it runs way better for a while. Although when I'm at a light and start off it almost dies then I push through it. Timing?

Among the suspects would be imperfect carburetion, or maybe a sticking advancer.
Proper carb sync might also help produce a stronger pull-away from idle.

Good Fortune! :)

I would also check for corrosion on the wire ends which screw into the spark plug boots.

But it sounds like carb holders are in order first thing.

120's are in the mail. I will put new fuel lines with new filters too. She rode strong today. A little air screw adjustment went a long way too. I'm afraid to put 120's in if it runs fine with 125's.

No braces cut off mine. I like to throw my legs on the passenger pegs when I rocket down the highway at 120. I cut the mounts for the blinkers off and got rid of the fender and made a custom light and license bracket.
