OK, now i am getting frustrated. I changed the stator gasket due to the fact that it was leaking oil. Ordered an aftermarket one off ebay, installed it and it still leaked. Then I took it back apart and added gasket sealer to the gasket and waited 24 hours but it still leaks. The leak is coming out where the rubber piece holds the wires in place towards the bottom of the cover. The only thing I can think of is to order 2 gaskets and install? HELP!!!!!

It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And may be changed whenever and as often as desired.

Your stator cover rubber grommet is probably hard as rock by now if its never been changed. New ones are soft and pliable. Changed mine 6 months ago. Big PITA! But I was replacing the pealing chrome stator cover with a nice polished aluminum replacement anyway. Requires that you cut the wire to replace the grommet. Then solder back on making sure I had heat shrink tubing to cover up everything nicely. I don't think I used anything on the grommet itself but used some RTV sealer around the edges of the heat shrink to keep any moisture away from my solder splices. I just used a standard paper gasket for the cover but sprayed it with Permatex Copper gasket spray just for kicks.

You need to apply sealer to the area where the wires pass through, well as the groove around the edge of the rubber. After assembly, let it cure for six months before starting the engine. That should be sufficient time.

Sorry to say it, but this is a fussy repair to get right ;)



I use only OEM, Genuine Kawasaki gaskets and O-rings, if possible.

Not sure what motor you have but my GPz750 motor
does not have an oil bath stator.
You may what to look at the crank seal letting oil passed.

1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.

VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.

3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

That is my thinking as well on this. The grommet is to keep the wires from chaffing and to keep dirt out, not oil in.
